Call from Pipedrive with Microsoft Teams

Pipedrive has no built-in calling integration and nothing for Teams, but you can still start a Teams call from any phone number in Pipedrive. Either make Teams the app that opens tel: links on your PC, or add a Teams button that opens the call in Teams on the web or in the desktop app. Both need a Teams Phone licence and a way for Teams to reach outside numbers.

Set it up step by step

Start by adding CallerPlugins for Pipedrive to Chrome and confirming your work email. Then pick the setup that matches how your team runs Teams.

With the Teams button (Windows or Mac)

The quickest to try: nothing to install besides the extension, and no Windows settings to change. It opens Teams on the web by default, or the Teams desktop app if you prefer.

  1. Check with your IT admin that your Teams account can call outside numbers. Teams Phone needs a licence plus a calling plan, Operator Connect or Direct Routing.
  2. In the CallerPlugins settings, switch on the Microsoft Teams button. To use the desktop app instead of a browser tab, also switch on “Open the Teams app directly”.
  3. Open a person or deal in Pipedrive and click the Teams button next to the number. Teams opens with the number filled in: the extension sends it with its country code, such as +31201234567. The first time you use the app, Chrome asks whether Pipedrive may open Microsoft Teams; tick “Always allow”.
  4. Teams asks you to confirm the call. Press call. The contact usually sees the number your admin set up for you in Teams.

With Pipedrive’s own phone links (Windows only)

Pipedrive can turn phone numbers into tel: links. If Windows sends those links to Teams, a click on the number itself opens Teams, without an extension. On a Mac, use the Teams button: this Windows setting doesn’t apply there.

  1. In Pipedrive, open the account menu at the top right and go to Tools and apps → Phone calls. Choose the default phone call handler (tel:[number]) and save.
  2. In Windows 11, open Settings → Apps → Default apps, search for TEL and pick Microsoft Teams. If Teams isn’t in the list, use the Teams button instead.
  3. Click a phone number in Pipedrive. If Teams is the TEL app, it opens with the number filled in.

More about the link types (tel:, callto:, sip:) is on the softphone page; the Teams settings are on the Microsoft Teams page.

What ends up in Pipedrive

How we wrote this guide

The Teams links come from the extension’s code: teams.microsoft.com/l/call/0/0?users=4:%2B31201234567 on the web (the + is encoded as %2B), or the same path after msteams: for the app. The Pipedrive settings come from Pipedrive’s help article, the Teams Phone requirements from Microsoft Learn, and the echo listing from the Pipedrive Marketplace, all checked on the date below. We haven’t tested this against a Teams Phone account of our own, and Teams and Windows menu names can change.

Pipedrive and Microsoft Teams calling: questions

Does Pipedrive have a Microsoft Teams calling integration?

No. Pipedrive’s help centre says it doesn’t offer a built-in calling integration, and its phone settings list tel:, callto:, SIP, FaceTime, SMS, a custom format and Marketplace apps (checked 26 October 2026). Teams calls work through a tel: link or a button that opens Teams.

Do I need Teams Phone?

Yes, to call phone numbers outside your organisation. Microsoft 365 E5 includes Teams Phone (the version without Teams also needs a Teams Enterprise licence). Business Basic, Standard, Premium and E3 need the Teams Phone Standard add-on. You also need a calling plan from Microsoft, Operator Connect from a telecom operator, or Direct Routing.

Why does Teams ask before it calls?

Teams shows the call screen and waits for you to confirm. CallerPlugins only fills in the number; it doesn’t start the call by itself.

What does it cost?

The CallerPlugins buttons are free for 10 uses per tool per month, or 100 for your team once you confirm a company email. Above that, or to save each click as a Pipedrive activity, Pro costs €4.99 per user per tool a month (excl. VAT), or less billed yearly. Your calls are billed through your Teams Phone setup as usual.
